What Happens To Animals That Don't Get Adopted
Do people e'er think about what happens if an animal doesn't get adopted from a shelter? There are many animals that go euthanized because no one adopts them and I believe that should come to an end. Many people may argue that it may be best to just put them to slumber considering no i adopts them, just I believe that there are many other methods to assistance an fauna get adopted and alive their life simply like any other pet should. I, myself accept pets that have gone to shelters before in the past and I never really understood what happened in them up until I saw a commercial of beast shelters that went viral. From there, information technology really caught my eye and I wanted to learn a lot more well-nigh it.
I believe this topic deserves farther exploration because I don't think many people pay much attention to this problem every bit I did in the past and that is a mistake that everyone does. It seems to be going on for years at present and although there are some no-kill shelters, in that location are still other shelters that put animals to slumber. If we proceed ignoring this, then I believe the numbers of euthanized pets would increase throughout fourth dimension considering many people call up that is the correct solution when it's not.
To me, I see it as putting a person without a family to slumber considering they haven't been adopted. Information technology is not fair. I am certain that if someone did that to humans, people would observe them crazy but somehow they don't recall the aforementioned about animals being put to slumber. Kwame Anthony Appiah agrees with the idea that animals should be put to sleep as long equally they aren't acquired any harm.
An article made by Kwame Anthony Appiah called, "Should I Get a Pet From a No-Kill Shelter?", they made a great point that one should prefer an animal from shelters that do put animals to sleep because it could help save their lives. Kwame stated, "you could give the "no-kill" shelter money and take your cat or cats from a "kill" shelter, thus achieving both goals." (Appiah, 2017). It helps save their lives because if they stay in the shelter for any longer, they will be put to sleep. He also suggested that 1 should send money to no-kill shelters to aid with the overcrowding that happens. Although I don't agree with his idea that information technology's ok to kill them, I do concord with the idea that one could and should help with both shelters.
Ane thing that people probably don't know happens in shelters is that if an animal doesn't laissez passer the beliefs test, they likewise get euthanized. In Marie Tae McDermott's article chosen "The Test Was 'Bogus': Readers Argue Alive-or-Die Tests for Dogs", she stated, "Researchers found that some tests, like removing a food basin while a domestic dog is eating, are unreliable predictors of assailment in homes. Yet dogs may be euthanized if they fail." (McDermott, 2017). She compared animals to humans and how we wouldn't treat humans the aforementioned way nosotros care for animals in shelters. If we were to help these animals, they wouldn't be going through this and risking their lives over a exam or not being adopted after a while. Something we tin can practice is training pets in shelters so they won't be put to sleep due to their behavior. As well, something nosotros can exercise outside of shelters as an owner of a pet is neuter them. Some pet owners have pets who have multiple babies and most times, the owners don't desire the babies then they abandon them. I, being one of them, have gone through that before.
Neutering our pets could preclude the growth of unwanted animals that eventually go to shelters. The problem with pets having babies is that they don't accept simply one, as humans would. Animals could have more iii babies at a time, and that simply adds to more animals that could be unwanted. It'due south a problem that happens oftentimes and is one of the reasons why people take their pet in shelters in the get-go place. Nosotros could prevent that by stopping our pets from having babies and too spreading sensation nigh information technology. I've seen my family also have the same problem and I suggested to do the aforementioned. After they did, they did not accept a trouble with having unwanted pets in their household. My family would too eventually put their pets in adoption whenever their dog had unwanted babies so that actually did help with the common problem.
